BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership & Management

The Diploma of Leadership and Management has been created for professionals working in management that wish to expand their knowledge and formalise their skills.

Effective managers are required in all areas of business today. The best managers have the skills and confidence to make and communicate decisions, manage financial plans, and adapt to an ever evolving business world.

Management roles within any company require a flexible approach and an ability to assess the need for organisational change. The Diploma of Leadership & Management is designed to provide these essential skills. It is specifically designed to help you develop a risk analysis approach to the management of people and organisations.

The Qualification can also cover:

  • Performance Management
  • Management of customer service strategies
  • Financial Management

This is a nationally recognised qualification

Duration is generally 36 months (or earlier if deemed competent)

Qualification Rules This qualification requires the successful completion of a total of 12 units of competency. Participants must undertake 6 Core units, plus 6 elective units, of which:

  • 4 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed below.
  • for the remaining 2 elective units:
    • up to 2 units may be selected from the elective units listed below
    • if not listed, up to 2 units may be selected from a Certificate IV or above, from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

How the process works

Our on the job training model works most effectively when a mentor guides and instructs the participant through work related learning activities. A representative from the Training & Business Company will visit and discuss with you and your supervisor/mentor, the most appropriate methods of delivery and complete a structured training plan.

Once a training plan has been completed you will receive your resources.  Work will then begin on self-paced learning activities in the agreed order.  Once both you and your supervisor feel ready, an assessor from the Training & Business Company will arrange a time to visit the workplace to conduct an assessment.

Training on the job will involve a combination of different methods and activities suited to the goals of the business and needs of the participant.

How to gain your qualification faster

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is “the acknowledgement of the existing competencies gained through previous studies, work and life experiences”. If RPL is granted, this will mean that you will not have to complete the study or assessments for a unit or units of competency. Our RPL Application Kit identifies what you need to do to apply for RPL and the information you need to provide.


$4,500 Full price if not eligible for state funding.

If you are eligible for state funding, a start up fee to cover the costs of resources and your induction will be applicable. Please contact our office for further information.
